Quad Trace

WARNING:  This is NOT a standard "Alabama" rig!!  

Cousin to the Quad Hover, the Quad Trace is a perfect marriage between a Swimshot Rig (essentially a castable 3-way rig) and a bladed umbrella rig. 

Built specifically to allow the angler to deliver BIG floating or suspending hard-baits to DEEP water (think glide baits, multi-segmented swimmers or even jerkbaits), your options with the Quad Trace are really pretty limitless.

The central leader is 15 inches long and of a lighter (50#) test than the other rigs in the Quad Series, to allow even smaller baits to swim, float, and posture at rest as they should, without the rig attached.  One arm is longer than the rest, at 14 inches to house your jig or weight for sinking your rig to the bottom.  The attachment component on the "drop" arm is simply two 20# duo lock snaps daisy chained together, designed to break away from your rig in the event of a snag, saving you from losing your entire rig and expensive bait behind it.  The result is a rig that is EASY to cast, which QUICKLY sinks to bottom, will SUSPEND your floating bait just a foot or two from the bottom at rest, and allows you to retrieve the bait as fast or slow, and with whatever cadence you like, and the bait you choose naturally performs well.

Depth and retrieve speed is all dependent upon the size of the weight or jig you choose to attach to the rig.  Typically, we recommend a football style jighead or weight in the 3/4 to 1.5 oz range.  I personally normally run a 1 oz Hogfarmer Magnum Shaky head with the hook trimmed off (MN rules), and a tiny paddle tail plastic attached as a teaser (as pictured).  This is about perfect to run 5-8 inch class glide baits and segmented swimmers right down to around 30 feet deep, and supports a faster than practical retrieve, right down to a crawl or a true DEADSTICK.

As with all models in our Quad Series collection, our proprietary "Hub and Spoke Armature" assembly (patent pending), allows for transfer of kinetic energy from the rod tip THROUGH the rig and directly to your bait at the rear, for ultimate control while hovering, twitching or imparting direct feedback and cadence to your retrieve.

Attached with our hand-made clevis style swivels for increased water displacement, the blades will spin at the slowest of speeds and flutter like crazy when twitched or paused.
